Sharleen Chilvers

Executive Manager, Support Services

Sharleen has 35 years’ experience in the Australian disability sector after starting her career as a nurse in New Zealand. She holds a breadth of knowledge and understanding of disability supports and services in Western Australia and nationally.

Sharleen has supported people with disability across rural and remote Western Australia in several senior positions at the Department of Communities, Disability Services. This included managing Eligibility & Assessment teams and Local Area Coordination across country and metropolitan regions.

Sharleen also developed and implemented the Disability Resource & Consultancy Teams, and the People at Risk team at the Disability Services Commission. She was instrumental in the creation of the Disability Health Network, a collaboration of WA Health and the Disability Services Commission.

Other leadership roles include speaking in Canberra at a Senate Standing Committee on developing supports for employing people with disability, and Chairperson of Support Group for People with Disability in the Pilbara region.

In 2011, Sharleen led a delegation to Zhejiang, China of West Australian service providers, and has hosted members of the Zhejiang Disabled Persons Federation as part of a Sister State agreement.

Sharleen has twice been nominated for Person of the Year.
