Occupational Therapist Position – Nulsen Therapy  

Permanent Parttime - 0.6 FTE

You will be responsible for:

  • Liaising with external stakeholders, such as other health professionals, NDIA- related entities, family members, educational staff, and community members to provide individualise support plans.
  • Providing evidence-based Occupational therapy assessments and services, to participants in their home and community environments, based on their goals.
  • Providing therapy services individually and as a member of an inter-disciplinary team.
  • Providing accurate, timely and high-quality reports.
  • Documentation of and reporting on intervention strategies.
  • Providing support to senior clinical staff by contributing to initiatives related to areas such as clinical service delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Recommendation of appropriate assistive technology in accordance with NDIS guidelines, based on participants goals and funding.
  • Consultation through the provision of advice and information to participants, service users, families, and staff as appropriate.
  • Supervision, support and mentoring of other staff.
  • Work collaboratively with NDIS participants, families and supporting networks to improve effectiveness and drive positive outcomes.
  • Work within the NDIS funding framework and meet Nulsen compliance and quality standards.
  • This role will involve travelling to clients in varied locations.

Essential Criteria:

  • Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) or approved equivalent or limited/registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
  • Graduates encouraged to apply.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills.
  • Clear understanding of the needs and rights of people living with disability, and of the concepts of social role valorisation, inclusion, active support, and quality of life.
  • Demonstrated ability in assessment and clinical reasoning which supports planning, implementing, and evaluating Occupational Therapy services with the purpose of achieving the highest possible quality of life for people living with disability. 
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as a team member with clients, and all other stage holders, relating to participants.The ability to relate to participants and their families
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to relate to participants and their families.

About the role

The Safeguarding Officer (SGO) is responsible for theadministration of incident reports and risk within Nulsen. This role supportsthe WHS Lead, and Accommodation Managers by managing risk data, generatingreports, ensuring compliance, and fostering a positive risk culture.

The SGOacts as a key point of contact for staff regarding risk management processesand tools and works closely with the PeopleKind Group (PKG) risk team.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:  

  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyse risk data, identify trends, patterns, and areas of concern, and generate reports on key risk indicators for stakeholders.
  • Incident Management: Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the incident management system, ensuring timely data entry, thorough follow-up on investigations, and identification of contributing factors.
  • Compliance & Policy: Support compliance activities by tracking adherence to internal policies and procedures, identifying gaps, and recommending improvements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Government agencies, facilitating communication and collaboration.
  • Risk Control & Training: Train staff on the proper usage of risk controls, like duress alarms, monitor their effectiveness, and identify areas for improvement.
  • CultureBuilding: Contribute tothe development of a positive risk culture by promoting awareness,understanding, and proactive risk management practices

Essential Criteria:

  • 2 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Proficient in the use of technology includingemail, the internet and Microsoft office.
  • Stronginterpersonal and communication skills to develop good working relationshipswith a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

Desirable:

  • Professional qualification in a relevant discipline

Residential Services Manager - Gosnell's Area

The Residential Service Manager (RSM) supervises the day-to-day management and administration of services and activities within their nominated homes, ensuring a superior experience is provided to residents and their families that meet their individual needs, goals and aspirations in a manner that reflects The Nulsen Way; and contributes towards an increase in the overall quality of life.

This exciting opportunity is located in the Gosnell's area and supporting people in 3 homes with high physical and clinical supports.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate annual Person-Centred Planning meetings and develop subsequent plans, in        collaboration with residents and their support network.
  • Ensure outcome reports are completed in a timely manner.  
  • Provide support and information to the Participant Engagement team when undertaking residents NDIS or funding reviews. 
  • Understand and follow Individual Service agreements.
  • Ability to track resident funding and oversee the Profit and Loss statements for each home.
  • Actively engages with residents and their families on a regular basis, fostering relationships that encourages participation, engagement and feedback, and assisting Nulsen to provide a superior experience for residents that reflects best practice; The Nulsen Way, and meets the National Standards for Disability Services.
  • Provides guidance, support and mentoring to Support Workers in their day-to-day activities in providing services to residents in the home, ensuring they follow each resident’s individual plans; allocating tasks, providing feedback and monitoring performance to ensure performance targets are achieved.
  • Facilitates house meetings with staff and encourage staff participation. Takes appropriate actions in response to issues raised, and keeps staff informed on the progress of these actions.
  • Identifies on the job training requirements for Support Workers and works with Workforce Development to ensure staff attend training and are assessed for competence, as appropriate.
  • Assists the Workforce Development team in conducting pre-employment interviews for Support Workers as required.

Experience, Knowledge and Qualifications:

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience in supervising teams in a service delivery environment, working with people with disabilities and engaging with their families.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including facilitation, negotiation, mediation, and advocacy; with experience in building and maintaining effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Considerable organisational and analytical skills including experience in problem solving, time management, and managing multiple priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Sound knowledge of the rights of people with disabilities; the concepts of social role valorisation, inclusion, and quality of life; and the National Standards for Disability Services.
  • Sound written communication skills, including the ability to write reports.
  • A willingness to work out of office hours as required.
What you'll need:
  • Must hold Australian citizenship or be a permanent resident of Australia.
  • Current Australian driver’s licence.
  • NDIS Worker’s Screening Clearance 
  • Provide First Aid certificate 
  • Proficient in the use of technology including email, the internet and Microsoft Office.
