You will be responsible for:

  • Liaising with external stakeholders, such as other health professionals, NDIA- related entities, family members, educational staff, and community members to provide individualise support plans.
  • Providing evidence-based Occupational therapy assessments and services, to participants in their home and community environments, based on their goals.
  • Providing therapy services individually and as a member of an inter-disciplinary team.
  • Providing accurate, timely and high-quality reports.
  • Documentation of and reporting on intervention strategies.
  • Providing support to senior clinical staff by contributing to initiatives related to areas such as clinical service delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Recommendation of appropriate assistive technology in accordance with NDIS guidelines, based on participants goals and funding.
  • Consultation through the provision of advice and information to participants, service users, families, and staff as appropriate.
  • Supervision, support and mentoring of other staff.
  • Work collaboratively with NDIS participants, families and supporting networks to improve effectiveness and drive positive outcomes.
  • Work within the NDIS funding framework and meet Nulsen compliance and quality standards.
  • This role will involve travelling to clients in varied locations.

Essential Criteria:

  • Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) or approved equivalent or limited/registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
  • Graduates encouraged to apply.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills.
  • Clear understanding of the needs and rights of people living with disability, and of the concepts of social role valorisation, inclusion, active support, and quality of life.
  • Demonstrated ability inassessment and clinical reasoning which supports planning, implementing, andevaluating Occupational Therapy services with thepurpose of achieving the highest possible quality of life for people livingwith disability. 
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as a team member with clients, and all other stage holders, relating to participants.The ability to relate to participants and their families
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to relate to participants and their families.

Speech Pathologist - Fulltime or Parttime (4 days per week) 

Join our team of dedicated, passionate allied health professionals and a team of four fabulous Speechies.

The Senior Speech Pathologist will support you to develop skills to assess and assist adults with a disability.  You will help the individuals and support workers to manage symptoms of dysphagia and build communication competence.

You will collaborate with families, carers, and other therapists and team members to support participants to achieve their goals and a good life.

You will also be supported to prescribe and implement appropriate assistive technology in accordance with National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). In addition, your role will also include providing training to support workers to develop their skills in mealtime support and as communication partners.

What you need:

  • Tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology and a current practicing membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
  • Sound knowledge of contemporary approaches to assessment and intervention for mealtime management and communication issues for individuals with developmental and/or acquired disabilities.
  • Demonstrated well developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to underpin good working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including clients, families, and carers.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage your workload, including the ability to problem solve, prioritise, handle multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Awareness and understanding of the National Disability Service Standards.
  • Empathy and understanding of the needs and requirements of people with various disabilities and diverse backgrounds.

Other requirements;

  • A full Australian driver’s licence
  • A suitable, reliable vehicle
  • NDIS Workers Screen Clearance
  • Provide First Aid certificate (including CPR) with at least 6 months validity.
  • Must hold Australian citizenship or be a permanent resident of Australia.
  • Membership with SPA

Desirable:

  • Experience in/knowledge of delivering training programs to a range of audiences including non-clinical staff.
  • Experience in/knowledge of the prescription and implementation of low tech and high tech alternative and augmentative communication systems.
  • Experience working with people with complex communication needs.

Residential Services Manager

The Residential Service Manager (RSM) supervises the day-to-day management and administration of services and activities within their nominated homes, ensuring a superior experience is provided to residents and their families that meet their individual needs, goals and aspirations in a manner that reflects The Nulsen Way; and contributes towards an increase in the overall quality of life.

Nulsen Disability Services is one of Western Australia’s leading disability services providers, established in 1954. As well as supporting people with complex disability, we also provide a range of therapy and allied health services.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate annual Person-Centred Planning meetings and develop subsequent plans, in collaboration with residents and their support network.
  • Ensure outcome reports are completed in a timely manner.  
  • Provide support and information to the Participant Engagement team when undertaking residents NDIS or funding reviews. 
  • Understand and follow Individual Service agreements.
  • Ability to track resident funding and oversee the Profit and Loss statements for each home.
  • Actively engages with residents and their families on a regular basis, fostering relationships that encourages participation, engagement and feedback, and assisting Nulsen to provide a superior experience for residents that reflects best practice; The Nulsen Way, and meets the National Standards for Disability Services.
  • Provides guidance, support and mentoring to Support Workers in their day-to-day activities in providing services to residents in the home, ensuring they follow each resident’s individual plans; allocating tasks, providing feedback and monitoring performance to ensure performance targets are achieved.
  • Facilitates house meetings with staff and encourage staff participation. Takes appropriate actions in response to issues raised, and keeps staff informed on the progress of these actions.
  • Identifies on the job training requirements for Support Workers and works with Workforce Development to ensure staff attend training and are assessed for competence, as appropriate.
  • Assists the Workforce Development team in conducting pre-employment interviews for Support Workers as required.

Experience, Knowledge and Qualifications:

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience in supervising teams in a service delivery environment, working with people with disabilities and engaging with their families.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including facilitation, negotiation, mediation, and advocacy; with experience in building and maintaining effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Considerable organisational and analytical skills including experience in problem solving, time management, and managing multiple priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Sound knowledge of the rights of people with disabilities; the concepts of social role valorisation, inclusion, and quality of life; and the National Standards for Disability Services.
  • Sound written communication skills, including the ability to write reports.
  • A willingness to work out of office hours as required.
What you'll need:
  • Must hold Australian citizenship or be a permanent resident of Australia.
  • Current Australian driver’s licence.
  • NDIS Worker’s Screening Clearance 
  • Provide First Aid certificate 
  • Proficient in the use of technology including email, the internet and Microsoft Office.
