Live with Delores!

Canning Vale

We have an exciting new SIL (Supported Independent Living) vacancy in a beautiful SDA home located in the wonderful suburb of Canning Vale!

You’ll be joining two welcoming housemates. One is a 46-year-old woman who enjoys socialising, painting classes, music sessions, karaoke, and getting her hair and nails done. The other is a 55-year-old man with a love of food and music – particularly playing and listening to guitar – who also enjoys getting out and about or relaxing at home watching TV.

This home is best suited to someone who uses a wheelchair and has High Physical Support needs, with flexible 24/7 support available, including overnight assistance.

Get to know Delores

Delores, in her mid-forties, brings plenty of fun and creativity to the home! She loves singing her heart out at karaoke and expressing herself through painting, attending weekly music and art classes to keep those creative vibes flowing.

When she’s not busy being artistic, you’ll likely find her enjoying a day out, whether that’s visiting the shopping centre for a little retail therapy or treating herself to getting her hair and nails done.

Delores is warm, welcoming, and always up for a good time, especially if it involves a karaoke duet or two! She’s looking forward to welcoming a new housemate who could also become a great friend.

Meet some of Delores’ amazing support workers

Hello, my name is Hawa, and I am the proud mother of two beautiful children.

I have been supporting Delores and her housemates for the past five years with Nulsen, and I’ve worked as a support worker for 10 years. What started as a desire to help others has grown into something much more meaningful. Over time, Delores and her housemates have become like close friends to me. I take the time to truly understand each person – their likes, dislikes, and what makes them happy. Their joy becomes my joy, and I always strive to ensure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for.

Delores is like the princess of the home. We enjoy spending time together doing activities like painting and treating ourselves to getting our nails done – we love our “girlie” moments!

I truly enjoy my role at Nulsen. I wouldn’t still be here after five years if I didn’t. Nulsen not only cares deeply about the residents but also provides strong support for its staff, which makes a real difference.

Hi, I’m Helen, and I’ve been a support worker with Nulsen for five years. I initially supported residents at another home before joining Delores and her housemates a few years ago. Over time, this home has truly become like a big, happy family, and I love being part of it.

I see Delores and her housemates as my siblings, and I genuinely care about them. When they’re happy, I feel at ease – but when they’re unwell, I can’t help but worry. The bond we’ve built over the years is incredibly strong. One of the most rewarding parts of my role is seeing how they respond to me – sometimes they don’t even need to see me; just hearing my voice brings them comfort and happiness. Knowing that sense of familiarity and connection is really special.

While every day can be different and no two days are ever quite the same, I wouldn’t dream of leaving.

Outside of work, I enjoy travelling and have explored much of Australia. I recently returned from Bali, and I love experiencing different cultures – it’s always so inspiring.
