Congratulations to Manisha and Emmanuel!
The Nulsen Awards are an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the outstanding work and dedication of our people across the organisation.
Nominations for the R1 2026 Awards have now closed. While there were many exceptional nominees for both the Creating a Good Life and Innovation categories, two individuals truly stood out.
We extend our warmest congratulations to Manisha and Emmanuel for their commitment, hard work, and dedication to supporting residents.
Both winners will receive:
- A certificate
- A $200 gift card
- A paid day off on their birthday!
Additionally, this will put them in running for the Nulsen Excellence Award which will be presented at the end of this year.
Creating a Good Life Award | R1
The Creating a Good Life Award is for supporting residents to achieve valued social roles in their community.

Manisha Manisha
Manisha’s dedication to enriching residents’ lives extends well beyond her day‑to‑day responsibilities; she consistently remains proactive, uplifting, and deeply attentive to the wellbeing of the people around her.
She is committed to ensuring that residents never miss out on meaningful opportunities or experiences, often going above and beyond to make sure everything runs smoothly, even if it means going out of her way or taking time out of her busy schedule.
Craig, who eagerly anticipates his weekly sailing sessions, is just one of the residents who has benefited from Manisha’s commitment. Whenever his community staff were unexpectedly unable to attend, Manisha would step in without hesitation to accompany him, if only to ensure Craig could still take part.
Manisha also takes great care in capturing special moments for residents, thoughtfully sharing photos and memories with their families to help maintain connection within the community.
Her compassion and commitment to supporting residents in living rich and fulfilling lives embody the spirit of the Creating a Good Life Award.
Innovation Award
The Innovation Award is for individuals who find innovative ways of working & supporting people.

Emmanuel Ohaele
Emmanuel has shown outstanding innovation through his development of the 50 Days Bike Ride Challenge, a structured and creative approach to improving Neil’s wellbeing.
Identifying that Neil was limited by weight-related mobility issues and wheelchair dependence, Emmanuel designed a practical, goal-driven program to work on rebuilding Neil’s strength, confidence, and independence.
He created measurable framework to support the challenge, detailing tracking system to record Neil’s participation each week, monitoring his milestones, and calculating his progress. It allowed Neil’s achievements to be easily seen and celebrated.
Emmanuel also encouraged involvement from other housemates, turning the challenge into a shared, motivating experience. The results have already been significant, with only 20% of the challenge completed, Neil has already shown improvements in his fitness and core strength.
Neil and Emmanuel’s 50 Days Bike Ride Challenge has been highlighted in many Nulsen’s communication updates, promoting a culture of empowerment and active support.
Truly, Emmanuel is deserving of this year’s Innovation Award.
