Meet Jun and Lucas!

Jun

Hi! My name is Yong Jun, though most people call me Jun. I’m originally from China and have been living in Perth for five years. During this time, I completed a Diploma of Community Services and spent two years working as a support worker.

My experience in that role introduced me to rostering, which sparked my interest in this position. I felt that my background would allow me to better understand the challenges support workers face and allow me to provide the assistance they need.

I actually waited for the opportunity to work at Nulsen for over a year. Although I received offers from other organisations, I was drawn to Nulsen because of the culture and the incredible work Nulsen does. The people here are so nice and welcoming, and I knew I wanted to be part of that.

I really enjoy my job. The most rewarding aspect is going home knowing I did my job well, that all shifts are covered and that the support workers had the help they needed. I hope to continue my journey with Nulsen for many years because I genuinely love being here.

Outside of work, I enjoy travelling and spending time with friends. When I’m at home, I like to relax by reading or simply enjoying some good food! I especially love trying new food from different cultures!

Lucas

Hello, my name is Lucas. I originally came from Adelaide but I moved to Perth when I was 6, so I’m basically a local!

I’ve been with Nulsen for just under five years as a support worker. I was interested in the role because I wanted to help people and truly make a difference. Nulsen was the perfect fit. When the rostering position came up, I saw it as an opportunity to experience something new and set myself up for future development within the organisation, which I greatly value.

I’m really enjoying the role so far. My previous experience as a support worker has equipped me with the skills to excel and the ability to understand situations from the perspective of those on the frontline, making it easier to create rosters that meet their needs.

Of course, things don’t always go smoothly. Sometimes everything is on track, then something comes up abruptly. This is when I focus on staying calm and resolving the problem efficiently. Overcoming these challenges and getting ahead in my work is incredibly rewarding.

In my free time, I love spending quality time with my partner and our two cats, Simba and Nala. I also enjoy hitting the gym, relaxing with a game or two, and indulging in my love for Italian food. If you ever want to swap recipes, I’d be happy to share!
