Get to know Notion

Hi! I’m Notion, and I’m excited to join Nulsen Therapy as the new Senior Occupational Therapist. I’m originally from Zimbabwe, spent most of my life with my family in the UK, and recently made the move to Perth. I’m loving life here, there’s just so much to explore and plenty of amazing food to enjoy!

Outside of work, I’m a proud mum to a lively four-year-old daughter who keeps me on my toes.

My journey into occupational therapy began when I was 18 during a hospital placement. I had the opportunity to shadow an occupational therapist (OT), and their work inspired me to pursue this career. Since then, I’ve worked with a wide range of age groups, from children to adults, and supported individuals with intellectual disabilities, gaining diverse skills along the way.

As an OT, my role focuses on improving people’s day-to-day lives, whether through assistive technology, tailored advice, or comprehensive assessments. The most rewarding part of my job is seeing the positive impact on someone’s quality of life, helping them access the community and live more independently.

A typical day for me starts with reviewing emails and schedule for the day. I conduct home assessments to evaluate safety, accessibility, and functional needs. During these visits, I make sure assistive equipment is correctly set up and functioning, complete transport safety reviews to assess wheelchair securement and overall transportation safety, and provide training to support staff on equipment use and manual handling techniques. I also complete personal care reviews to ensure clients and staff can perform these tasks safely. Between visits, I document progress, update procedures, liaise with the multidisciplinary team, and coordinate with suppliers for equipment repairs or replacements. My focus is on promoting independence, safety, and quality of life for every client.

I believe that in any role, there’s always something new to learn. I’m not afraid to ask questions, seek help, and acknowledge areas for growth.

What I love most about Nulsen is the supportive and well-organised environment, having a everyone so willing to support me in succeeding my role truly makes a difference and helps me do my best work!
