Meet the mates of Hamilton Hill

David
is a talented artist who loves his 70s to 90s music, and enjoys a game of Connect 4 with anyone who’s interested in challenging him.

He loves to go out, whether it’s taking a leisurely stroll by the coast, taking in the fresh breeze, or visiting the Fremantle Markets with an ice cream in hand. One of David’s hobbies is surfing. When summer rolls around, he’s quick to grab his swimsuit and surfboard and head for the nearest waves!

When he’s not out and about, you’ll find David at home painting or experimenting with watercolours and crayons, while jamming out to Frank Sinatra.

Brian is a pilot by heart and has a deep love for all things aviation and trains.

He often visits Perth Airport just to watch the planes take off and land. For him, no two visits are ever the same, and there’s always something new and exciting to see.

In his free time, Brian enjoys going on drives just to see the sights. He likes watching action-packed movies and sports, and loves lending a hand in the kitchen. He’s also passionate about gardening and proudly takes care of all the plants at home, making sure they’re thriving.

Meet a couple of our support workers

Hi! I’m Sali and I’ve been a Nulsen support worker for 5 years.

I like being a support worker because I genuinely enjoy caring for people, particularly when it comes to Brian and David. Seeing them happy and doing what they love, whether it’s gardening with Brian, or playing Connect 4 with David, makes my day. To me, they’re like family.

I always try to help them get the most out of their day. If we’re not relaxing at home with music or TV, I encourage them to get outside for fresh air or enjoy some hands-on activities like painting.

I’m a big fan of cricket and gardening – my love for gardening actually grew from spending time outdoors with Brian! However, my favourite hobby is cooking. I’m the chef of the house, and I truly enjoy cooking food for people. I particularly love it when Brian or David joins me in the kitchen!

My name is Poonam and I became a part of Nulsen about 10 years ago.

Before working in disability support, I was in hospitality. During that time, some of my cousins worked at Nulsen, and I had the chance to meet them while they were out with residents. I really enjoyed that moment and it left a lasting impression, meeting the residents and seeing the connection they shared with my cousins. A year after, I saw an opportunity to work with Nulsen and took it.

I really enjoy helping people live a normal life and giving them the opportunity to choose what they want to do and how they want to live. For me, it is incredibly rewarding supporting Brian and David and helping them go about their daily lives.

In my free time, I love travelling with my family and seeing what the world has to offer. I also enjoy watching movies and tv shows based on true stories, whether it’s true crimes, horror, or drama!
